Vodno!

One again a nice flight at my local flying site Vodno, Skopje. Just like the last one (the one I didn’t write about) I was flying along site Deko. We have a nice thing going on, we complete each other and help each other learn a lot faster what the thermals are doing. He is a military person so I guess when the vario starts to beep it’s cloud base or die.

Stefan, Alek, Frosina, and Deki took off before us and while Alek and Stefan looked like they were struggling on the beginning they did get some decent lift. Stefan continued to climb until 1600m asl while Alek landed on takeoff. Finally our turn has come. Deko tookoff just before me, he went straight where Stefan and Alek found lift, just to find that it stopped working. He made a turn and headed closer to the landing zone with me following him right away since the lift didn’t seem to work for me either.

But than nature had different plans, some decent turbulence and there it was.. lift.. the vario started beeping and we started our circles immediately. Deko was in a pretty worse position than me since he was lower and close to the ground where the thermal was pretty tite, but he kept it and didn’t back down and later took his prize. Few circles and we were pretty much at the same altitude, worked together and managed to center the thermal. While climbing to 1940m we had the most beautiful view with the millennium cross just below us and the whole valey and Skopje in front of us, we even had a bird join us and get a real useful help about the thermal we were in.

This is my second time flying over my home City and I’m still not quite used to it, this is why I started flying. So I can see the place I spend my 22 years growing up with the “eyes” of all those birds that i used to spot as a child.
